Ms. Kaplan has more than 25 years of experience in representing clients in medical negligence, product liability, personal injury, ERISA, and intellectual property litigation. Additionally, her current firm represents estate beneficiaries and survivors of international terrorism. She is admitted to practice law in Courts of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia and in the U.S. District Courts of Western and Eastern Pennsylvania, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. District of Maryland as well as several Federal Appellate courts. She has been lead or co-counsel in more than 30 jury trials and has represented clients in arbitrations, mediations and at special master hearings. In 2004, she had the privilege of representing two claimants before the September 11th Victim’s Compensation Fund in Washington, D.C. She has realized settlement/verdicts for her clients in the six figure and multi-million dollar range in New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and Maryland. She has served on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. She is the immediate Past President of the Trial Lawyers Association of the District of Columbia and has served as Secretary of the AAJ Council of Presidents. She has been a featured speaker at Attorney Continuing Legal Education seminars in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, the District of Columbia and Florida.
Experienced in all aspects of personal injury and products liability litigation from intake through appellate practice, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in these claims. Currently representing estate beneficiaries and survivors of international terrorism. Served as an arbitrator for the Court of Common Pleas, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and the New York Supreme Court, New York County. Additional experience as of counsel to an intellectual property firm based in New York City, from l991-l993, assisting in discovery, motion practice and trial preparation on patent infringement, copyright and trademark infringement cases. Represented individuals in ERISA claims for wrongful discharge and denial of benefits.
